Hello everyone! I'm a beginner goldfish keeper from Alberta, and I've been keeping goldfish for around 5 years (though only seriously in the last two years or so).
I started off with three very, very small fantails of around 1 1/2 or 2 inches in a 30 gallon tank. Unfortunatly, two of these fantails died as a result of some newbie mistakes. Eventually, they were replaced by a tri-color (eventually red and white) demekin and a tiny pearlscale. Unfortunatly, this 30 gallon resides at my parents store due to their dislike of fish in the home, and seems prone to disasters. My two, much beloved, fancies, died in a very quickly onset contamination of the tank, of which is still a large mystery. And by quickly, I mean that within an hour the pearlscale and demekin went from acting and looking as healthy as ever to dead. The fantail was only saved by some very quick actions on my Dad's part, as I was at work (my work, that is) that day. This was only a few months ago.
As of now, my goldfish collection is reserved to my 6 inch, 5 year old fantail and a brand new bronze/silver lionhead, though I do have two bettas (a plakat and a super delta) in a planted ten gallon and a 3 gallon tank in my room along with three otos. Unfortunatly, until I get my keister moved out to art school, this is all the fish I'm permitted.
I'm looking forward to my time on this board, and I've already spotted a few familiar faces from koko's!
