I am loosing fry at the rate of two to three per day. The fry are one month old. They are eating baby brine, freeze dried daphnia, and blood worms. I‘m doing water changes every day, and feeding them 3 times per day. Temp is at 76 degrees and I have thirty fish per ten gallon tank. The tanks water depth is 6 inches. Could I be overdosing with my dechlorinator? Tend to have a heavy had when adding during water changes. I use prime. Should I add some salt?

Put a fry under the microscope in very little water and check it over at lowest magnification.
Are they hanging at the surface before dying?

Why Flukes? These babies have not come in contact with any other fish. The parents of these fry are fine no flashing or lethargy or fraided fins. The same for the babies. As far as hanging near the surface, they all hang near the surface because the daphnia and bloodworms don't sink. I do need to get a microscope but at this time I do not have one.

It is my understanding that adult fish may live with a low level of flukes without symptoms but little ones, not so much.
Prazi is pretty benign (for the fish), might not hurt to try it.

I am håving the såme problem. Losing 2-3 fry per day. Mine hang at the surface and don't eat much, then start listing to the side, lose ability to swim then die. Let me know what you do to treat your fry and if it helps ok?

I've had that problem a few years back. I read that Coppersafe at half dose works and that's what I did. I never had the problem again. Guenther told me that Prazi works fine too. I have not tried it yet.

It may be too late to help now, once the fry are all slimed up in the gills and dying. Better to give them Prazi early on before the problems start.

I had this problem in the past, and I had good luck with a product called Life Bearer from AP (Aquarium Products). It is a pink liquid.
The active ingredient is trichloromethyl phosphate.
I also bought Prazi Pro, but it came as a white powder that was difficult to get into solution, so I prefer the Life Bearer product.

Flukes!
Use Prazi from the first day until the fry are 3 weeks old!
If the fry die after 2-4 weeks sometimes it is too late.

If there are flukes, the fry develop a lot of slime starting at the gills.
So they can not eat and they can not breath.

Here's a little trick with prazi powder that I use. Put the powder in the cone feeder (small size), and shake/stir at the surface of the water. This way the powder is forced to go out through the tiny openings on the side of the cone and will not clump together.

I would like to thank you for your quick responses and ideas. I went with Life Bearer. It worked no deaths in two days even the ones I thought had little hope survived. I also treated the parents.
Thanks again

OH Allen, I am sorry your fry were also afflicted. They were ALL PERFECTLY HEALTHY when I shipped, or I would never have sent them. I am glad you have alot of fry left. I only have about 20, and I lost most of the most promising fry. How much salt are you putting in per gallon?
