I have seen Mita line a lot here and looks like they are different from typical TVR. Please correct me if I am wrong. Can somebody explain me the characteristic of Mita line TVR please? Thanks. :coffee:

Generically, I would say a more compact body and more compact wen. At this point it becomes like fine wine, and a breeders tastes and influences drive what they're culling for.

Yes they have a more compact, smooth wen. I actually like a more pronounced futan on my Itoh X kudo. I will say, my Mitas on average are strong swimmers.........

All,
I think it is the peduncle and shoulder that defines these fish. Secondarily the fish is defined by the forwardness of the futan. Sadly, I also feel that by the F-3 generation in the US, they are pretty similiar, except for maybe the Hamamatsu whcih tend to have wide backs ( sorry outisde-no pics)

Hi Gary,
I was wondering about that do you have any Mita line top viewranchu with a nice smooth egg shape back as the sideview ranchu? or Mita line ranchu must been for topview ranchu only. Please let me know.

I decided to not continue the line, So I left the best youngsters from Last spring at Garys, about nine. They would make fine sideview, as they were too short bodied for my standards. So email Gary and get them! I still have a breeding pair you are welecome to, but I left them in the pond, so they are froze in for the winter.

Mr. Mita is a very respected and succesful Ranchu breeder in Japan. He has been breeding Ranchu for many years. His bloodline is very famous. It is true that he used to be a captain at a boat, but he retired about two years ago.
Here a photo of a beautiful Mita Ranchu :
