Great! How many fry?

Not a big spawn, about 200. It was from a smaller female. My bigger mita breeder female has not spawned yet, but she is ripe! With the warmer weather the next few days, could happen quick........

I culled the April 5th spawn for Single tails/spines and was very happy, over 200 fry made the cut. Next cull in Mid June.

The first spawn(5 weeks) is already in BBR stage, but it is down to 10. Only one I feel has a chance to be a good TVR. The rest would make nice side view aquarium ranchu. If someone is interested in getting them from me let me know, soon.......

Wow, great work man. :worship:

What kind of set-up did you have the parents in, prior to spawning? What were their water temps?

I moved the parents outdoors to a 110 gallon tub in late March, so temps were cool. I turned off the heaters in their tubs in the garage they were in first before moving to adjust to temps. I waited for a warm day(highs in the 60s) and moved them. Then I let nature take it's course, and they started chasing with the late April storms. I had mops in the tub, but once I saw them spawning, I hand spawned in white plastic bowls like Gary Hater(cincy ranchu) taught me. If the female did not spawn eggs easy, I waited. My first spawn was small, but 2 weeks later, I got the big one.

Could you detail your feeding regiment prior to spawning?

Well, it was frozen bloodworm and some pellet( I use Atisions betta pro mainly, I just love the results on goldfish), but there were cooler days I could not feed. I think the conditioning over the winter made the difference. Nothing fancy, morning pellet and afternoon bloodworm, as well as 60% water changes every 5 days.

Dan, the pictures of the parents u posted - are they the seed of the first spawn or the second one?

I used the male in both spawns. That was not the only female I used, it was one of 3.
