This is about a 5" ranchu that has developed a lump under its anal vent. It is about the size of a large pea and firm (not mushy) Seems to be filled with fluid. What can be done about it? Could I draw off the fluid with a syringe or lance it. Kinda reminds me of a hemoroid. Fish is otherwise active and seems healthy.

I just found online that this is caused by improper stripping of eggs and is fatal.
This fish has never been 'stripped' and I believe it is a male by its behavior with the females.

I don't think this has anything to do with stripping of eggs. My guess is this is some sort of viral "fishpox". I would be tempted to see if a sterile needle prick would 'deflate' this. Or, if it's not bothering the fish, just leave it alone.

just my two cents:youtellme:

Looks like a prolapsed vent. Not sure what causes it.
