View Full Version : Bloodworms in bulk?
Do you guys buy them in bulk? I mean the frozen ones. I can only get the 4oz flat packs or 3.5oz cubes here. Where do you guys get yours?

If you want to save some cash, you can order Hikari frozen in bulk from places like Fosters and Smith. But you need to order alot to make it worth it with shipping...........

I bought 2 3.5 packs from Petsmart and it was over 9 bucks. Dr Foster Smith is having a sale so I'm thinking of getting at least 6 16oz packs. I think when you get more than 6 its around 5 bucks a pack which is a lot cheaper than Petsmart.

I bought lots of frozen foods from http://aquaticfoods.com/ since he's sort of local to me and a sponsor at the Discus site I frequent. $400 got me 50 lbs. of frozen foods (including bloodworms) at $8.00 a lb. I was not charged sales tax, maybe because the cheaper shipping allowed him to absorb the sales tax himself.
Drs. Foster and Smith have a flat shipping rate of $24.99 for any amount. And with its current sale on Hikari bloodworms till April 6th, if you spend $400 you can get 57 lbs. of bloodworms for just over $7 a lb. The only bad thing is the upfront cost lol.
Find someone and do a group buy!
to get $10 off any $100+ order from Drs Foster and SMith, Use coupon code 3658573
I got twenty-four 16 oz packs for $156.35 inclusive of shipping using the coupon code I mentioned above.

If you have a local aquarium club, you can put together a combined order to share the shipping costs. Our local club does this about once a quarter and I can get 1lb of Hikari bloodworms for $7-$8 a pound.
Thanks for the tips but my area sucks. I only know of a koi club around here.
I'll very likely do a big order next week.

I have been buying bulk frozen brine shrimp amd bloodworms for years wholesale from Oregon Desert Brine Shrimp. With Delta Dash and buying 80 pounds at a time( 1/2 of each, shrimp and bloodworms), including freight, brineshrimp is about $3.50 a pound and bloodworms about $4.50, note, this is distributer pricing. The requirement is that you do not conflict with other suppliers. Give them a call, checks only!:yess::exact::yess:
