Anyone here with an indoor pond? I'd love to see some pictures. I'm hoping to build one for the TVR, later this year. I'm still trying to figure out the ideal size and depth, I don't really need a big one...maybe something that can house around 10 fully grown TVRs.

You can build a indoor pond with pond-liner size of 2*2 meter and 35cm/45cm depth.
Me; either go with imported Fiberglass pond or Pond liner. Just still thinking about it. Coz im not sure if i'll be moving again or not! Fiberglass are movable! but :money:

BruceP has made some REALLY nice ones for koi out of wood and liner.only thing different for goldfish would be to not make so deep

Thanx for the compliment Paul. Yes, Ive made a few now. One is 700 gallons and 4' deep and the other is 1000g and 3.5' deep. We have koi in them but if we ever get the 'herd' thinned down I'll make one for goldies. Nice thing about wood framed/lined tanks is that they can be made to fit the area and then just buy a liner to fit.

I'm thinking about getting TVRs and could use some ideas also on how to set up an indoor pond of some sort.

I like the rubbermaid shallow 55 gallon tubs. They fit on shelves and are very sturdy...

Dan,
Can I ask where you find the Rubbermaids in that size? The largest I have been able to find around me is the 30g and I am really interested in getting a few. Also, what type of filtration do you use with them? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a supply store in your area that caters to larger animals? I have always see them at places that sell food for horses and other farm animals. They also have cool looking metal troughs....

Yes, tractor supply is where I get mine. If you don't mind spending a little more cash, try aquatic ecosystems.... www.aquaticeco.com

We do, but the smallest I have seen is 100g. I had my 150g special ordered from a company that my husband does business with and got it at a pretty good discount. I was just hoping to be able to find the 50g w/out having to order it.

I'll do that. BTW, you never said what type of filtration you use for them? HOB, canister? I have several spare HOBs...

Home Depot carries the 50+ gallon tubs. They're a good size for a few fish.

I just use sponge flilters, as well a heavy water changes..... I don't know too many fish breeders that don't end up going to mostly sponges.....

Why do many breeders end up going to sponge filters? Obviously lots of surface area for good bacteria growth--but they don't take care of the large particulate waste. Please comment! Maybe I am missing something?:youtellme:

Because they are cheap and efficent. Breeders also have bare bottom tanks/tubs so it is easy to clean waste from the bottom with the water changes...........

Dan, aren't sponge filters also safer for the fry?

Sea Witch,
Are you setting up a 50g tank in addition to your 150? Are you setting it up outside or inside? Great to hear!

I am going to set it up inside along with the 150g as soon as I move it in for the winter. I have 7 GF in all and I think that will prolly be too many for the 150g tank, so two of them may go in a 50g tub. I was hoping the nice ppl here could recommend a good filter for the 50g? I was thinking of maybe just getting a smaller Pond Master.
