wow, an 8-incher. Female? When are you getting this fish?

Not at all referring to this fish, but as a fish judge, I find fishes tend to lose symmetry and refinement with size. When judging, I pick the fish closest to the standard, not the biggest. I ran into this alot in betta circles, especially judging females. As for this fish, It has some great features, especially from a TVR persective, but I am still getting a grasp on where things belong in the SVR world. I am sure Daryl would prefer a shorter, deeper more circular fish for a SVR. Anyway, this fish is a powerful specimen..........

P.S. The only worst thing in US goldfish show is Vender not allow to put fish into the show.

These are Show-grade Japanese Side-viewed Ranchu with firm fully wen-growth.

Paul, at the rate you are importing you'll have over a thousand ranchu in no time.>:) I can't believe how many ranchu you got at your place. I have never seen so many chus in one place like that.

I really like #1, but the fish is a bit too big for my taste and prob costs too much. However, if you can find any smaller SVR like that then I'll jump on it right away (preferably male again, I got too many female).

I don't like the first piece at all. Looks ungainly to my eyes, and I'm not the biggest fan of that body style, not short enough, or long enough. The one with the bigger wen has such nice finnage though.

I'm a HUGE oranda fan, but I'm kinda with demdamdemekins on this one. Their heads don't seem to fit the body length/style. I'd prefer them to have a bigger buffalo style wen and shorter, more compact body kind of like my old Bucky :)

On the contrary, these are the type of oranda I prefer and from the look of it they may not be Chinese strain and you guys are used to seeing here in the US. I don't like fish with excessive wen growth because they tend to be weak swimmer with bad postures and SBD-prone.

If you manage to bring these guys in then we gotta talk, Paul. I'm not into oranda, but I love those fins and bodies.

I don't know too much about fish judging, but I know what I like. These oranda are beautiful, and I would love to have them in my tank! I would never part with my ranchu, but these are tempting.
On a side note, I ADORED Bucky, and am so sorry he is gone. His pictures always made me very jealous.....

Although I think both are nice, my choice would be the oranda with the larger wen. The finnage is beautiful and very similar to the oranda on Goldfish Connection web site.

As for Bucky...he will always be #1 in my book!

Its about balance. And though nice fish, the head/wens to not balance with the body size. Very nice color and strong finnage........
