Shubunkin, shubankin or just pronounciation

Hi all,

I've been on a forum where the name Shubankin was used. The goldfish looked like a shubunkin to me and a member was trying to convince me that they are 2 varieties. Is that so or is it just a different pronounciation of the same name? If both exist, what are the features and differences?

Gerard I have seen the same thing about Shurbunkin on a chat group.I havent seen anything about different varieties.Some of the Buddest sites do spell it shubankin.
