Welcome to GK! Do you have goldfish? If so how many and what kinds?

Years ago I worked for a local Aquarium supply and fish retail store. During that time I kept just about every kind of gold fish you could imagine (save the rare and expensive, didn't have the money) as well as many types of tropical fish.

Today I have a family, one going to college next year and a two year old, I don't have time to do the upkeep needed for tanks. In my pond I have a few assorted comets and the "feeder" goldfish I started my first pond with. I tend to grow attached to my wards and so now I have 3 or 4 large (8") goldfish. My comets are smaller (5 to 6").

This spring I plan on starting my third pond that will be large enough to comfortably house a few koi.

I was interested to see that a couple of members here keep what I always considered gold fish suitable to aquarium only in their ponds, in a colder region than mid Tenn. I look forward to any advice or tips they may give me.

I have much more experience in keeping aquarium fish and the basics of pond care so any advice is welcome especially in keeping more delicate varieties.

Thanks for the warm welcome all.
