I notice her tail is docked. In the UK we are not allowed to dock tails anymore. Fortunately our docked tailed Standard Poodle was born 2 months before this law was enacted. Good luck with the chewing and the mess.

Seems that there are alot of people that love fancy goldies and bulldogs. I'm just wondering if there is a connection between squishy-faced dogs and swuishy-faced fish. Perhaps its a genetic defect of the owners that keep them both. >:)

Ranchu and bulldogs push the genetic barrier, so it makes sense...LOL

We have been considering getting an English Bulldog for a long time, me longer than Lari... lol... Well anyway, we decided to sign up with a bulldog rescue org. the other day. We were basically told that they wouldnt accept our application because we have a POND. We are not worthy, I guess to own one of their precious babies............... THEY CAN KISS MY .....................!!!!!!!

Romewhip

Put a short decorative fence around the pond. Brachycephalic breeds often can't swim as well as some dogs, and are at much higher risk for drowning should they get in the pond. Bulldogs also have a much heavier front end, and are prone sinking in water. The two can co-exist perfectly well, bulldogs and ponds, and look darn cute too!

English Bulldogs Sink and very fast, before you miss them it's too late.
A few koi people lost bulldogs that way.
French bulldogs ? But a Very Cool Breed.
My Boxer's never liked water but after this heat wave they often go for a swim in the mud ponds.

Unfortunately a lot of rescues get burned and don't look at individual situations. A raised pond sure wouldn't be a concern to me, but then I got my first whippet while living in an apartment- most whippet rescue folks won't talk to you unless you have a fenced yard and a house. In this case it's the rescue's loss. Keep looking- often a reputable breeder might have retired show dogs looking for a new home.

Romewhip...... We are finding that breeders quite often breed a female, have one litter and then sell her. I'm assuming that they find that she doesnt produce the traits that they had expected. We are talking to a breeder in MO right now about a 4 yr. old. female that they want to place as a pet. We don't really want a puppy anyway and are certainly not interested in showing (friggin' fish are enough).. >:)

That's a good way to go, I have a retired show dog looking for his own family right now too. Often because whelping is so hard on the dams one litter is enough, so retiring and spaying her and letting her go to her own family is an ideal situation, plus you get a trained socialized dog who won't eat your house.

I show and do performance with my dogs- hence why I'm not going to be showing my fish- I did pick up 2 ryukin at the NWKG show yesterday and one is really fine...

The old way of tail docking in small breeds like Jack Russell was by biting it off. Breeders would dock at about 3 days by feeling the tail bones between the teeth, count the bones and then bite between making a clean cut. According to the old guys vets often just measured, then cut and this could break through a bone instead of between, which caused problems.
Another piece of useless information that is in my head!

The longer I look at EBD from European countries. I am in love.
It's seem that European bloodline has stronger body shape; Bigger/broad body structure. This also make their head look bigger and wider. Just what I see!

As far for pricing, they're much more expensive than what available in the country. However, there are EBD from popular breeder selling for more in the states. I was looking at couple site for popular breeders. They selling their top puppies for 4,500. I would love to get some, but I'll need to sell fish for another 2 years to afford one....

About you taking my dog. Thank you very much for you offer. You are so generous! Maybe we should look at the opposite site! Then we can be best friend! lol

Now the EBD seller that I dealing with. She found me some nice adult EBD that ready to breed. I believe she is in Russia right now. She has very good bloodline. I dont know if I should jump for her or not! Since I will have to get ready for Boss's Japan trip.

Maybe some customer can buy her for me?

I think you should stick with the trip to Japan and forget about that dog for now (i.e. patience). Of course, while you're there try to bring back some nice Japanese ranchus. Are you planning to visit breeders' houses? I'd love to tag along but can't...one of these days I will...

See if they will take some video and send to you- I would also want a health guarantee. I'm not too keen on the croup and hind conformation on this dog. Make sure she moves correctly before you pay big money. Has she had puppies before?

bulldogs are one of the most difficult breeds due to their conformation, a real genetic test.... Of course thats why ranchu people are attracted to them, same level of difficulty...LOL

They came in last night by Air France which suppose to arrive at JFK airport by 9pm, but got delay and diverted. So the flight arrived by 3am. By the time I finished all paper work and clearance. I got out from the airport around 5.30am.
Then driving all the way back with no stop, since I do not want to hit traffic, which will make every worse!
Got home around 9am, then went to sleep since I got no sleep last night!
It was a really beat-up trip to get them.

Now I have a problem to walk them. I just can't walk all 3 at the same time.
I guess I am now under Fred's Skinny Project, since I gotta walk twice!

Anyway, I took video of them today after I got recovery from the trip :P

i agree that all us ranchu fans are genetically wired for love of animals that look like they got wacked in face with a fryng pan lol. i have two persian cats. all my favorite breeds of dogs and cats have round smushed faces never made the connection between that and the fish i love till i read this post. but IMO everyone who doesnt like the little round smush faces is genetically flawed not us lol. to me they look like babies and who doesnt love babies. beautiful doggies got any more recent pics?
