Hello,
In case you don't follow this site regularly, I should let you know that this is a tough crowd. Your fish are interesting and attractive, but these are not authentic ranchu. We recognize ranchu as the Japanese form only. Your fish appear to be Chinese lionchu. Again, nice looking fish, but they do not fit the standard of a Japanese ranchu. If you read some of the threads on this site, you will see how much debate has already been posted on this topic.
Cheers,
Rob

Only a few people are tough, just have to look at fish from SVR perspective. I like the body of fish #2 and the wen growth of fish #3. If you can somehow combine those traits then you'll have awesome line of fish. Fish #4 looks more like a Thai SVR than Chinese strain.
The wen of most fish are a bit lacking except for two of them...well, one is a bit excessive but some keepers might prefer it that way. It makes the fish swim head down though.

I think these fish look great, seeing how there mine :exact: And they could be yours for the low low price of $210.00. Proven breeders, give them a full moon and a thunder storm and look out,the spawning mops will be full in no time .:yess:

On a more serious note Suphi maybe its the pic the head growth is not that out of proportion and the fish swims fine.

Sorry, but none would live in my fish house. The calicos have poor colour and heads and the metallics have bad body shapes. From both TVR and SVR perspectives they are all too short and stumpy and lack "faces".

Non of them look show grade to me but if I had to pick one with the best body it would be of the red and white one with the single anal fin.
But because it has a single anal fin I wouldn't buy that fish.
By the way it is sort of strange to post another persons fish.

I think the reason he asked them to be judged, was to help in deciding whether or not to purchase these fish from me. So not so sure it is strange. Who better to ask for help.

Thanks God, seller is Gregg. If somebody else fish, I am sure I will get 1000 complaints in my Inbox.
I am not so sure, we should allow this kind of question in judging section.

But Fred, don't you think it's a good idea. If members are contemplating buying fish for their own enjoyment then their opinion is all that matters but if they are contemplating breeding from or showing their purchases then the opinions of more experienced members are worth seeking. There's no fun in believing that just because a fish has a hefty price tag it must be good quality, then spending hundreds of dollars buying such fish AND THEN be told that the quality is less than you believed. What is more important is that when invited to give an opinion, that opinion is given honestly and with the benefit of real knowledge and experience. Oooh's and Ahhh's are meaningless and focusing in on a fish's only "good" point can give the beginner the wrong impression.

Fred: I did not tell Yulinzzz to post the fish here and ask what people thought. Although I am not opposed to it. I am not sure where their would be a better place to post such a question. I have to agree with John, especially in the case of fish that someone is asking alot of money for. Seeking the help of this forum is just what you should do, and we should share our honest opinions with them.

I agree it is a good idea for goldfish hobby and glad that Gregg is brave and secure to let people judge his fish he is putting for sale :worship:.
On the other hand, when it comes to selling($$$), some people are insecure:youtellme: or assume it is not fair to let a stranger (or expected-buyer) posts their fish and let the whole judge their stock.
For me I have to find middle ground and my best suggestion is to go through private conversation. In that route, we can make everybody happy including me(when the flame starts, almost everybody keep quiet and I become the bad guy at the end.) :youtellme:
I hope it makes sense.

I'm with John Parker. Comments on fish here are honest and may be severe or positive. But it's not good neither for the buyer nor the seller, before or after the sale. Whatever the level of experience of the hobbyist, if he/she feels ok with the quality and the price fo the fish, it's better for he/she to decide what to do.
There are many other threads here where we can learn and benefit of the knowledge and experience of experienced hobbyists.

When I first started in Fancy Goldfish, I had no one to guide me. "Senior" members in the Society were reluctant to part with any information (on reflection I now suspect that they were not really as knowledgeable as I thought they were and really had no worthwhile knowledge to share) and the internet and chat rooms had not been thought of. I went to an auction (for members only) and bought the two most expensive fish to be auctioned (a male and a female calico Veiltail) believing that as several members were bidding for them that they must be good. In total they cost me £12.50 (around $18) which was a lot of money then and probably far more than I could justify spending on my hobby at that time. In reality they were OK but not good. That's not the way to start in this wonderful hobby. The more we share the knowledge we have gained through our own endevours (as apposed to simply passing on 3rd party knowledge), the greater the chance of beginners staying in the hobby instead of becoming disappointed and disillusioned and quickly "trying something else".
