So i have this big crazy idea of DIY-ing a large indoor pond using a "open bottom aquarium" design. and i was wondering if anyone has had any experiences w/ open bottom aquariums? and also any suggestions on filtration would be welcome too! Soo we're looking at measurements of 11ft long,8ft wide 2ft deep topped w/ the 11ft long,3ft high 2ft wide "?dome?" sooo if ive done the calculations right i think im looking at just over 1,810 gallons?
Im looking at 2x6 and plywood frame construction lined w/ 1/2" stryo board topped w/ a pond liner. then finishing the frame w/ tong n groove boards. the top viewing area would be wood frame and acrylic or glass panels. Bellow are a few links to the "open bottom" style aquariums check them out!
