View Full Version : Lemon Head Red Cap?

I got this lil one about 6mo ago,it was mixed in w/ all the other red caps but as you can see its weine is obviously not red lol. I just really loved its markings. So id love any and all input you all have on it. btw i have no clue how to sex my fish yet so any help w/ that would be wonderful too! ;)

This Oranda is simply a red and white metallic which is principally white albeit with some attractive red markings. Not too sure about its eyes though. The third pic suggests that they protrude and if that is so that completely spoils the fish from my point of view. Check the fish's pectoral (front) fins and if the leading rays are thick and rough (covered in tiny pimples) then it is a male but these coursing stars are only shown by some fish when they are in warm conditions (water above 60F).

It's nice but the eyes seem more protruded than usual. May be it was the camera angle...

ty for all of your input so far. And as far as the eyes go,it must be the camara angle because they arent buggie or anything like that. and ask and you shall recive fred! here you go! some side view shots. thanks again everyone!

Orandalover you fish is filling out quite nicely your doing a great job grooming your fish.

Oh and Pearlscale_fan thinks the fishes name is Fred.:))2

mygold- thank you so much for your complment! I had a lil scare these past few weeks n almost lost this lil one to some kind of parasite! its slime coat was all messed up and his tail fin is a lil tattered now. but its pulling through like a trooper n i hope to maybe show him/her sometime in the future :) and in honor of the "fred" i named my newest addition na solid white oranda "fred" hehe ;)
