I don;t know but I saw posted on another site today that some fish are alergic to bloodworm. I asked the poster for her source of information but she hasnt gotten back to me yet. I'll post here again if I find out.

That's exactly what I was thinking, one of my tvr gets those red spots in her stomach, after I fast and isolate her in my quarantine she gets better in a day or two. This is the second time It happens. I stopped feeding her the bloodworms.. I also thought the bloodworms might ne bad already but my other ranchu are fine...

Fish might have already been sick to begin with or food might have gone bad. In typical allergic reactions to food you either see rash or hives "all over" the places, or swelling, since it's a systemic not local reaction like contact allergy. Having said that however I don't know anything about allergy in fish.

The girl got back to me about the issue. Seems there was some discussion on the GAB about protein and SBD and the bloodworm allergy thing was part of the discussion. So, there isnt any definate study to arrise at this conclusion. Just several people discussing it.
She claims that once she reduced the amount of protien she gave her fish the severity of the SBD reduced. But this is not the subject of this post, sorry. lol

Is it possible that she's super sensitive to water quality?
I have 1 Oranda who is my "canary" so to speak, even though I do big weekly changes and don't overstock, he will occaisionally get a pink-red spot on his underbelly a day or two before a water change is due, similar to your pictures, that goes away with a water change....the others never get it.

my goldfish's swimbladder used to swell when she was fed brine shrimp, so we had to stop feeding her that even though she really liked it
