View Full Version : Liquid Garlic
How many feed their fish liquid garlic? It was suggested to me today to try it. I understand that this liquid garlic can be purchased from the LFS.

Nah. I'd rather feed myself instead with that stuff.

I have used it........ To get pigeons to drink. Otherwise I like it for cooking and keeping vampires at bay.......LOL

Jed, what do you want it to do? If you just want to make the food taste better, the processed liquid is fine.
If you want to try to use it to de-worm, for parasites, fungus, etc, you'll have to use fresh.

Garlic supposedly improves their immune system and boosts their appetite among other things.
I'm sure it would give them bad breath (if they had breath) :lair: :) :youtellme:

I dunno. I've never seen any goldfish needing an appetite boost, it's more of the other way around.

It suppose to be good for their immune system. It was suggested to use in gel foods or let dry food soak for a minute or two. I was just curious. Hell, I will try it if it works.

If definately works for birds, but I think its use in fish would be very limited.

I think I will give it a try, it couldn't hurt...right?

There is another aspect of the problem. If you add the garlic liquid in the gel-food , this gel will retain freshness longer. Garlic (or mustard) are excellent preservers.

I have not tried liquid garlic but the fresh stuff really works. If you do feel that your fish is lethrgic and you suspect a mild internal bacterial infection, a clove of garlic blended into your gel food might be your answer. It does have antibacterial properties.

I definitely love garlic on my french fries :good:
Garlic is known to boost immune system, detoxifies
the fish's body, purify blood and prevent diseases.
You can make your own garlic water by peeling a
medium size bulb, cut in thin slices, place in a cup
of hot tap water and let it sit at room temperature
for at least 12 hours. Mash the cloves and strain
for immediate use. Refrigerate until needed(good
for 2 weeks).
Garlic water may be given orally to battle internal
infections. I use syringe or eye dropper(2 drops).
Give daily for 7-10 days.
Try it.
