I seem to have problems with my fry each year. Symptoms are the same - gills open, near the surface and an emaciated look. My water is good - spring fed but the young get some of the water from adult tanks. Is this gill flukes?

Probably, you should treat.

OK - thanks for that. I have 4 1000L tanks that feed into each other from a spring - do I need to empty them all and treat all fish or what would be the best way of dealing with this?

I'd treat the whole thing, for a peace of mind. Prazi is very benign and won't hurt your fish.

^Also, think about secondary infections (usually bacteria) if fish do not improve with Prazi.

again thank you. I live in New Zealand and fish medications are pretty much non-existant. I have some Prazi from my vet - they recommended 28ml/100L - does this sound right?

That is an acceptable treatment, but I offer a couple areas of concern;
make sure the tanks are filled to the rim as fluke eggs can be an issue and I would trteat three times over a three weeks to break the hatch out cycle.
If the prazi is dry, mix with a little vodka prior to adding to the water
