Nice air pump.

I'd drill the tanks and plumb them to drain to automate or atleast simplify your water changes. It will pay for itself quickly.

what kind of drill would you use to drill glass?

Ichthius

A diamond coated hole saw. I'd put a 1 3/4 inch hole in for a 1 inch bulkhead.

Thank you for all comments!

For filteration, i will use Aquaclear110 on the the tank by the wall. Since those area are for QT and hospitalize. For the tank that locate in middle of the room, i am still debating between individual filteration Vs. Central filteration. Central Filteration like Bean Filter are easily for maintainent, while disease could easily spread out. I heard that UV will not take care the problem. So i am chewing on this issue.

For now, i will stay with sponge for every single tank with daily water change($$$ water bills). The tank in the center are drillable, so i have option to drill them and make it into one unit.

As for tubs, i will use Farmer technique. The fiberglass usually will be use for breeding, raising, and grooming "Paul's Bloodline"....lol...>:)

Hi Paul

Now is the time to drill and plumb. If you plumb every tank with a water valve and a bulkhead back to drain you can make the decision to recirc of flow through later. You just pick the source of the water (city or recirc) and the destination of the drain (sewer or sump).

UV can stop disease you just need a big enough one. In most cases you know what you're dealing with and have the appropriate drug to treat it. Maybe a quarantine flow through system with a recirc system for fry and healthy fish.

In my room I keep about 4 distinct systems with different levels of cleanliness and biosecurity.

Will plumb for fish ;)

That would be the plan. I will dig around with UV system for my center row of tank. Good enough that "Buck Koi" already donated me an airpump. I am looking at his unused Bean filter. He is so generous and it will be donate to xxxxxxxxxxxx soon.....Right Pat?

Do you mean bead filter?

On my systems I run box and sponge filters so any tank can be shut off from the main system and quarantined by shutting off the valve and capping the bulkhead.

Yeah, that what i mean!

Dav, Maybe you could share picture of your system. This way, i may get some idea.

Thank again Man!

Hey Paul,

Please make sure the smell from new paints completely out of your new fish room before you move fish in there. Paint is toxic. or please make sure put alot of plants in the fish room to filtering the smell of paints too. Open all windows let the air take the smell out completely from you fish room. Maybe I am wrong. But i read a articles from Rick about new painting job and lost the whole tank of fish.

Consider an room air exchanger, you can purchase from Jehmco.com, it really removes the fish smell and the humidity

A must have for a fishroom. Make sure you get the heat recovery ventilator and not the energy recovery ventilator. The later is for very dry climates where you actually want to retain the moisture.

Thank you, Dav! That will be on my buying list. So far, I will have to concentrate on basic stuffs like water, sponge filter, air-stone, etc.

The playground is almost done, and the toys are arrived!.....:yess:

It's also time to figure out how to ship those tubs, Paul. My deck looks kinda empty now that the snow is gone.>:)

It have been a couple crazy weeks for me to finish centralize system on my stock zoning. These zone contain total of 15 40Gallon breeder tanks. I am going to hook this system up with Bead filter from Buck County Koi and waiting to receive my Momotaro's bacteria house media for my Bakki shower.

So Today, I just finished all piping on drain and water intake. So I filled up all the tank to test it. Hopefully, tomorrow all the tank still where I left today :cross_fingers:

Just for the record....I took a video clip;

what kind of drill would you use to drill glass?

Glass drills are available from Aquatic Ecosystems. I agree Paul, a good set up but will be an excellent one if tank bases are drilled to house 40mm stand pipes (requires 50mm hole) plumbed to take water direct to waste drain or if that is not possible then direct to a holding tank (not feasible with bottom tanks) and then pumped to waste drain.

That looks great, Paul. When and if I have my own fish room, I'm definitely doing something similar although it's gonna be tubs instead of tanks.

Yeah, Right!!!!

I got some leak by bulkhead...Any suggestion on fixing the problem?

I've got that too, through the threads. Maybe due to gasket (rubber ring), needs tightening. I was told not to use the gasket at all but to use a fresh ring of silicone sealant around the hole instead. Pull the bulkhead down until the silicone shows all around the bulkhead and start to tighten. Let dry of course.

I have not done that. I tightened, not excessively cause I have glass tanks. Seems to hold right now.

Hi Paul

Make sure the gasket it between the tank and the flange. If the gasket is between the nut and the tank the water can migrate down the threads causing a slow leak.

If You need to use sealant ,PL roof and flashing sealant from Home depot.
It's polyurethane and You find it in the roofing section.
