I have one on my 200 gal. tank, works great, puts on alot of current. Easy to clean and set up. My stingrays love to play in the current. I don't think it would be good for goldfish that don't like alot of water movement.
I bought my on ebay for half the price!

Got mine on my 150 Ranchu tank, love it, its very silent and pushes a lot of water, but in my size tank I am not finding it to much for my ranchus, plus you can direct the water somewhat to soften it if need be....... Steve

I just put one on a 150g stock tank and so far, I love it !! Fish don't seem to be having a problem with the current, I really like the independant double output "jets" that can be pointed in opposite directions both up and down and side to side.

I use the fx5 in a 6ftx2ftx2ft tank and it works a treat with 10 large fish. but like any filter it needs regular cleaning. I think the pads are expensive, but they work. I've been trying different mediums and the sponges for pond filters cut to size works well, and there cheaper!!!

FX5 is a very good bio filter but the fine mechanical elements are pricey. Find a substitute if you want to do fines with it. And Patrick, two is not overkill for 265 gallons.
