Hi Suphi,
I noticed that you posted a while back about using the Saki Hikari green bag, do you still use it? Do you know where to find it to buy? I am looking for something for red/white fish that will not smear or turn white into beige...
Thanks!
Wynn

Unfortunately, your mailbox is full so I moved pvt msg to here hope you don't mind.

Saki "green" is my staple food and gives good results on my fish. I don't really use anything else, except bloodworms, which is given occasionally because water stinks the day after. Unfortunately, it's import-only as far as I know. I got mine from Paul (xxxxxxxxxxxx). I'm not sure if any other vendors sell it.

Thanks, Suphi.
I didn't realize my PM box was so close to full.
(I have cleaned it out now.)
I just ordered a bag from Paul to try. I was looking for something good without the color enhancers that so many of the other good foods have.
I love the Hikari Lionhead (and also supplement with bloodworms plus daily duckweed) but it does turn the fins and wen on any of my white fish, a dirty yellowish beige.
Curious to see the results with this....:)

I think that purple Saki Hikari is almost the same as Hikari lionhead, just smaller in size and with addition of probiotic. Both contains color enhancer that can mess up fish color if used exclusively. It even stains my cone feeder red-brown with prolonged use (sometimes I soak in cone feeder before giving it to fish). I have had no color issue with green Saki Hikari.

I was only feeding purple saki-hikari, just ran out and I don't see any color problems. I also tried saki-hikari lionhead And my fish just left it there... I had to remove it. I just ordered green saki-hikari from Paul, hope my fish like it... Right now I'm only feeding BW...

Thank you for all the great input :)
Purple would be easier to get than green. I've ordered the green so will use it til it's gone and reassess.

My red-head TVR didn't like hikari lionhead either, back when I had leftover. So I mixed it with saki hikari, he ate everything up but then spat out the bigger lionhead pellets. Some fish are more picky than others.:youtellme:

I want to switch to the Saki Hikari Fancy goldfish food (purple bag). Can anyone take a pic of a few pellets in hand? I want to see the size of them. My fish like eating medium size pellets. They kind of ignore the small mini pellets.

Thanks in advance :)

It is advisable to use small pellet. It's recommend by goldfish breeder, groomer across the world (Japan / UK / SG / Thai). Whenever you introduce new food, initially they will reject but they will end up eating at the end.

I will give it a try. Thanx :)

I also like the Saki but I prefer to give a variety of foods to my goldfish. I like using the Tricker Innurco for at least one feeding a day. And then Saki or flakes for the second and third feedings. I also feed blood worm, tubifex worm, mosquitoe larvae and regular floating pellets. The Vitaline is my preference for young fry supplemented with daphnia. The Vitaline is great for adjusting small fry from brine and daphnia to prepared foods.

Dose everyone here stick with just one food? and if so why? Is there really a benifit?

Actually I don't stick with one food. In my auto feeder, I mix saki hikari (green) 60%, Omega One 20%, saki hikari (brown) 10% and Hikari Lionhead 10%. Mostly Hikari 90% though.

I also have duckweed in the tank all the time.

For ranchu, its mostly frozen BW, or live food in the summer.... They get one Saki feeding a day....
