Hi all,
I hope you can help me. I just discovered today that one of my demekins has developed a prolapsed anus., at least thats what I think it is. I have attached a couple pics. one swimming (he's a fast active bugger) and one with me holding him out of the water for a better view.

I believe this is very new ( less than a couple days old). Water conditions are nominal and he is otherwise very active and eating. Not sure about the pooping but I will keep an eye in it now. I have started very conservatively with a salt dip to clean him up. Thanks for any help you can give

This is fairly common, especially with very young fish. The fish should be fine, however, the prolapse is probably permanent. I saw this a lot when I fed young fry with fry starter food or pellets. They over-eat, and their guts can't handle the load. Feeding bloodworms, flake and gel food prevented this in my fry. I suspect soaking pellets would also be helpful.
