Unsuccessful spawning reasons

What do you guys think is the major reasons why a spawn doesn't fertilize?
For instance you actually see your fish spawn or hand spawn them and still nothing fertilizes.

Bad eggs. If the eggs that came out of the female fish has a bit whitish color in them it will not fertilize.

They should be solid golden brown when they came out.
