Hi,

Current I have overflow from the stock tank then wet/dry filter then water reservor tank, of course inside reservor tank has pump (500GPH) to pump back water to stock tank.

I am thinking buying UV sterilizer with build in pump (200GPH), SUBMINER UV STERILIZER, and just put it horizontally on my water reservor tank. Would this will work? Would it reduce the UV sterilizer efficiency? I think if I put it in the water reservor the water, water inlet to the UV sterilizer would be clean and make UV work better.

Thanks,

You want the uv to be on the line from your sump to your tank so the fish get the sterilized water.

I agree with David, you want to filter the water first then run it through the UV before you return the water to the fish.

UV lights seem to depend more on water flow for efficiency. The slower the water is pumped, the better the sterilizer works. I think people run into a problem when they try to pump the water too fast through the UV.
