My chocolate pom pom has a splotchy colored face this morning. It looks like her brown is darker and there is orange, where there never was before! Is she turning orange? She also has a blood spot on her lower fin where it attaches to her belly and some odd reddish scale spots!? I dont think I am feeding any color enhancing food and everyone else is...well, still colored the same though be it blue. She is about 1 1/2 to two years old I guess. Not sure what is going on. Water perim. is fine. ????? Any tips, experiences, appreciated. Also she is the ruler of the tank so odd if she gets pushed around.

I have 7 adult-ish 5-6" orandas and an ryukin 5 1/2" and 3 young 1/2 year old orandas in a 75 with 2 Eiheim filters. I am thinking I have too many fish in this tank, which are overfed. I think maybe I need to sell some fish.

seems like changing water and adding quick cure three days in a row might help, maybe some salt also

She is really ORANGE!!!! Worst nightmare .>:) Today i am getting a new BIG light! Cincy Ranchu you should know how dark its been here in Ohio!I had a crappy light on this tank and no sunlight lately. I think they are not getting enough light! Fishy SUN BATHING TIME! Maybe I could use a mirror to deflect light!>:D<

Nope I found the culprit. Nutra fin color enhancer food! I was feeding as a mid day snack for about a month. It is messing up a black spot on my fav. baby ryukin too. GRRRRR Will post pic of how freaky my chocolate looks.:me:

It was not the food. Most commercial goldfish end up orange or even eventually white. The are many myths about how to maintain the colors but it is genetically programmed cell death. Color foods enhance yellows and reds which are environmentally obtained pigments.
Most yellowbfish you see people post are white goldfish stained with dietary pigments.
Do a couple google searches about my goldfish changed colors.
