Hi all,
I had to reseal my 90 g tank last week. A guy from my lfs did it for me and he used Windex to clean the tank before he sealed the tank.
Now is the time to put the water back in. What is the best way to clean Windex out of tank? Thank you.

Fill the tank with a 10% bleach solution (nine cups of water for every cup of bleach) and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Don't use more than 10% (just to be safe), and try not to let it soak for more than 15. Then rinse it with clean water and let it soak in clean in water for another 15, then let it air dry. Repeat these steps 2 or 3 times, especially the rinsing with water, just to be safe.
Windex isn't as dangerous as most cleaning products, and the real danger would come from the amonia. You should definitley clean it though, good job looking out!

I would just flush with water and skip the bleach. Bleach is usually used to remove bacterial/viral bad guys, not to counteract other chemicals. Bleach and ammonia are not supposed to be mixed together, although there is probably only a very, very small residue of ammonia left at this point. The bigger concern is the detergents, etc. that are in the glass cleaner.
(Pure ammonia is even used by the very brave to cycle tanks prior to adding livestock. :cross_fingers: Ammonia is excreted by our fish, and can be counteracted by ammonia removers like Prime and ClorAm-X.)
Maybe fill with water and let sit per the previous recommendations, just no bleach.

I use vinegar to clean my betta bowls and fish tanks after having fry when getting ready for the next batch. Then rinse well.
Vinegar is 100% food grade and the safest cleaner you can find. Rinses the cleanest too in my opinion.
