I just want to see what others are using for a staple food or foods. Here is my most current rotating lineup:

Hikari Oranda Gold here (I don't own any orandas, just the only Hikari pellet I can get locally that isn't tiny.)

TetraGold Sinking Goldfish Granules - Just trying out

Aqueon Goldfish Granules - Just trying out

All my fish are long-bodied, so SBD is not a concern, although I notice more stringy poos with the floating foods from the gulped air.

I do like the Hikari foods, but for a more economical choice, I like the Blue Ridge Koi mini pellet which I buy from adamsaquatics.com

It was Atision pro, but since I have been using Saki Hakari growth(green bag) I have been very impressed with the results. I am sold!

Last time I did an online order, I seriously considered the Saki-Hikari foods, but balked at the price. I'll definitely check them out now. (Gripe: For a company with so many different kinds of goldfish foods, Hikari seems to be unaware that goldfish do get larger than guppies. Grrrr, pellets too small.)

Anybody out there still using Pro-gold? I tried it, but found it too messy. Might be OK in a bare bottom tank with only sponge filters.

Eric,
Smaller pellets is better for goldfish's digestion system. We had a conversation about pellete size in the past for your reference.

I'm seeing color smear from Saki Hikari Color enhace pellets on some of my fish. This only occurs in fish with red/white patterns on the body, the color smear is more evident on the bellies (white scales turning yellow) and tail fins (white part turning spotty yellow). My fish with pure white body, however, seem virtually unaffected.

I'm gonna go with the Growth version from now on after I'm through with the Color enhance one. They don't seem to enhance color that much anyway.

Ah yes, I found it here: http://www.goldfishkeepers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110 Good info.

So if the ideal for indoor fish is < 2mm and sinking, what about outdoor fish?

Guys,

Is the Hikari Saki (Green Bag)available in the state?

I bought two 2.5" ranchu yesterday and I have been feeding them the color enhanced Saki (purple bag) and frozen bloodworms.

I want to feed them varities of dry food. They are currently in a 10g tank and how many times should I feed them since I'm not home from 7:30am until 7:30pm.

I appreciate any comments.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know how many types of Saki outthere? I know there is the color enhancer (purple bag), the growth (green bag). What's the third one?

Hikari lionhead is kind big for my fish at this point.

Ok, thanks

Did anyone tried the Chanko bag? It claims that it is as good as frozen blood worm.

Which one is better between green bag saki and Chanko?
