I had a very nice visit with Gary on Sunday. I saw his ponds and indoor tanks holding koi and goldfish.

He has babies from Philly veils and from Chinese broadtails. They were very interesting to compare. The finnage and body types were significantly different!

The Philly veils are longer in body type and shallower.

The Philly finnage is more pointed at the tips - all of the fins.

I also noticed that the Philly finnage tends to be straight and erect, without twists. I have struggled to get Chinese veils that do not have twisted pectoral fins.

I am pretty sure that Gary will eventually get them mixed with the best of each!

Did you get any pictures? Would love to see them!

I didn't get any pics. My camera is not good enough to get detailed photos of moving fish under less than ideal conditions.

However, if Gary is reading here, I'm pretty sure that he would be willing to put them up for comparison. Actually, in his blogs, he might have posted them although not for direct comparison.
