Hi all,
I have a wet dry filter with overflow in my 90g. I like my w/d very much. But I cannot feed duckweed to my fish at that tank. All the duckweed will end up in w/d via overflow. How do I prevent duckweed from getting into overflow box? Thank you.
Fred
Try a floating feeder ring - I use one in the pond to keep floating food from heading towards the skimmer.

Any suggestion on feeder ring? I only see small rings which are too small for duckweed.

I use the hydro pre sponge filter so that nothing gets inside my HOB filter. Just make sure that u rinse the sponge once or twice a week to get rid of the waste buildup or else it will clog up and water won't go through the sponge. The pre sponge filter is perfect even if ur feeding daphnia and other small food because the food won't get sucked up inside the filter.

Fred,
I have all my filters on a power strip, so I can just turn them off when feeding something that has a tendency to go in the filter before the fish get it. Good for flakes, smaller pellets, etc. I leave the cabinet door open to remind me to turn them back on...

devins23: Overflow is not the same as HOB. It is not easy to attach prefilter to overflow especially for duckweed to stay in the tank.

Eric: Feeding duckweed is different from feeding the others food. For the other food, you might want to feed them only for 2 to 5 mins. I want to put a lot of duckweed in the tank for the whole day. It's not going to cause SBD nor poluting water. In that case, it is impossible to shut down the power.
At this point maybe rig up a tank divider so the duckweed stays on one end of the tank away from the overflows. The divider doesn't have to go all the way down so the fish can swim where ever they want. Or several feeding rings.

you could probably make a feeder ring as large as you want out of airline tube and straight connectors like this (http://www.animalworldnetwork.com/staigcon4pcs.html). or put the tiny store bought feeder ring around the overflow instead around the food.

You can make any sized feeding ring you want out sheet styrofoam. Use the stuff from home depo or the like that has a thin layer of plastic on either side. Alternatively you can make a bar of foam or even pipe that simply goes from the from of the tank to the back. This will make one side skimmer free. Depending on your skimmer you might just be able to float a bar of foam in front of the skimmer.
I've used various incarnations to keep pellets from going down the drain.

Fred, u don't need to use the presponge filter parts. U can u just use the sponge by itself and customize it so that it will fit. Use rubber bands to secure it.
