View Full Version : Deep body?

When people refer to a "deep" bodied fish, are they referring to the height of the body (top to bottom) or the width (side to side). I'm pretty sure it is the former, but I want to make sure. This term is used a lot, and I have always found it a little confusing.

Thanks,
Eric

That's my understanding too. "Deep" is top to bottom and "wide" is side to side.

I personally really want to have somewhere we have a list of "Fish Vocabulary".

Good point. I would post that request separately in the "Comments, Complaints or Suggestions" forum so the moderators see it. Be prepared to help with formulating the list, as this site does not have any paid help as far as I can tell.

Its mainly Fred and a few mods.

In the AGA website, they have some vocab listed a pdf file. I can copy & paste it but probably need permission first.

Hmm, I poked around a bit on the AGA site but did not see that list. Can you just post the link? That should be legal - you are just pointing us in the direction of a non-profit website for educational purposes....

TIA,

Here is a link to what I believe eros was referring to: http://www.americangoldfish.org/Articles/Basic%20Goldfish%20Characteristics.pdf The website states: "The following articles are in PDF format and can be downloaded for printing or reference use."

The AGA list is nice but it's very general.
A list with common goldfish hobby vernacular would be more usefull.
It would also be nice if it was on this web page.
Let others link to us.

We might need to have permission from AGA. In the mean time, it is not the detail version of complete AGA guide.

I was talking about a list of our own.
