I received this e-mail from AZ Gardens and I thought I would share it with everyone here, too. I really like AZ Gardens' plants, and I am so glad they are lowering the shipping rates! Here is the e-mail below:

Dear Arizona Aquatic Gardens Customer,

We now have NEW LOWER SHIPPING RATES!

It was a long time coming, and after weeks of negotiating rates with UPS, they have agreed to offer our company actual box weight rates! No more dimensional rate pricing that FedEx has gouged us with for so long.

Example: FedEx would charge us over $80 for a 2 pound 12"x12"x12" box shipping overnight from Tucson to Miami, because the box size "dimmed" at 9 pounds even though it only weighed 2. UPS has agreed to waive ALL dim box pricing for our customers and will only charge ACTUAL weight pricing. This is exciting news. That same example we show you above for a 2 pound box to Miami now would only cost that customer appx $40, because UPS will only charge for the 2 pounds, not the dimmed fee. This means shipping rates will be 1/2 the cost of past shipments! We used Miami as a worse case scenario, so the closer you live to Arizona, th cheaper your rates will be.

We gave FedEx countless opportunities to fix this ongoing problem, but they only ended up increasing our rates year after year! UPS will now be our exclusive shipping company starting this coming week, and we know this will change our company for the good!

We are currently offering our customers a $7 off coupon that can be used up to 5 times for the month of July. Just enter coupon code JULYFIRE in your shopping cart checkout to take advantage of your savings, and now save even more money with our lower shipping fees!

It is important to inform our customers once again that our plants and our fish are from US Farm-raised, hand-fed stock. We do however, import Koi and goldfish from Japan but that is all. When you buy from our family's company, you actually do put money back into America, and to us that makes a difference, This should also make the difference next time you plan on buying quality tropical fish or aquatic plants for your aquarium or pond.

Thank you for your continued support!

I would not buy from them, because of the statement on their site about how they have had problems with customers. It put a bad taste in my mouth.

We ship by UPS, FEDEX and USPS and they all work with oversized dimensional weight. But oversized is not a box that is 12 x 12 x 12. It sounds like they were over charging for their shipping and possibly lost customers over it. To calculate shipping charges all you need is the approximate weight, origin and destination zip codes. All the shipping methods offer quick calculator that will tell you how much it costs to ship a package.

Why resurrect a 1.5 year old post no one replied to by an inactive aqua-puppies keeper?
