I decided to remove eggs from plant & put it in a cycled rubbermaid 17g tub with sponge filter. Yes the eggs i have removed have black dots inside. My male Oranda was chasing my calico Ranchu & black moor and i watched them deliver more eggs. Scooped them out and put them in a bowl (submerged in the tub). Now we wait?

It's easy to damage eggs when you remove them. For future situations, get a plastic storage box of 20 gallons or more to move the adults to if you have eggs you want to hatch. As soon as the fry have hatched, you can remove them to a shallow tub and put the adults back in their tank.

Of course if you don't want fry, the adults will be happy to remove the eggs for your.

A few of my 4 day old fry after a bbs feast! They are in a 55g tank but only filled about 8" so this is the most i could get in one shot. I have about 25 fry. Pretty good considering i only kept about 60ish eggs. Growing so fast and eating a ton! Look at those bellies full of yellow bbs :)

So cute! Looks like you're doing pretty well. You think you may sell them? :) I'm currently working on getting another tank, even though I already have three running. You can never have enough fancy goldfish!

Thanks so much! I will be keeping some and selling some but that all depends on when i cull them and how many i will be left with. Hopefully most are free of defects and i can move them to good homes :)

    Fry update
Hey everyone, my fry are now a week and a half old and have tripled in size since my last post!
All but 2 have nice wide double tails but it is hard to tell with the dorsal fins. The majority have started growing them but there is a few that i cant see anything. Cant wait to see how these "Oranchus" develop!

Wow they are getting big. Good work growing them out , and for a " surprise" spawning. It will be interesting to see the difference in the fry and colours as they grow.

They will be five weeks old this sunday! These 9 are my favourites so far. Really starting to colour up the last week. Still on bbs and hikari first bites, just started New life spectrum fry food and the occasional frozen blood worm treat. They like to nibble on the duckweed as well

I feed them 4 times a day, small meals. I only have 18 fry in this tank so it is easy to over feed.

I think I bought a bad bag of Hikari first bites. I lost about 300 fry in 3 days. I've been alternating bbs and hfb. Everything is fine with bbs. When I fed hfb, I suffered a massive fry loss. I used bbs the next day, no loss. I fed hfb again, another hundred or so dead fry. Used bbs again, no loss. The thing is I'm losing bep fry, so frustrating!
Anything similar happened to any of you?
